Our research capabilities

Our experienced team has clinical trial management and implementation capabilities in advanced technologies like gene and cell therapies, biologics and surgical medical devices. Our clinical trial specialists have decades of experience in the design and delivery of ophthalmic trials from Phase 1-1V with access to expert clinical advice from word renowned key opinion leaders.

Glaucoma and retinal diseases

We work with world-leading clinician scientists who act as Principal Investigators on industry-sponsored and their own investigator-led research into glaucoma and retinal diseases include age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and inherited retinal diseases.

Gene and cell therapies

We have specialist capabilities in the delivery of gene and cell therapy.

We work with experienced surgeons who have delivered investigational and approved gene therapies via sub-retinal injection.

We also have access to state-of-the-art surgical facilities at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear hospital which includes advanced microscopy equipment critical to retinal gene therapy surgery.

Our team is experienced in the receipt, storage, preparation and disposal of gene therapies and has access to an onsite preparation lab which includes a Class 2 biosafety cabinet.

Medical devices

Our experienced team has been involved in trials for medical devices including the bionic eye, biodegradable implant, MIGS and laser treatments.

Our facilities include two rooms designed for delivering laser treatments.

Eye research clinical methodologies

We perform a range of eye research methodologies and surgeries.

Patient examinations and imaging include:
